Pods Brews is owned and operated by Pods - aka Michael Podshadley.  The brewhouse is located along the backside of Trek Winery's production space in Downtown Novato, which was founded in 2009 by another "Pods" - winemaker extraordinaire Andy Podshadley.  Coming from a wine family by trade, Pods (the younger one) was a brewer at heart, and in 2018 he decided to expand the family beverage repertoire.  Pods has been built slowly but surely over the years, utilizing our existing infrastructure, while constantly innovating the brewing techniques each and every brew.  Pods strives to produce exceptionally balanced beers at a small scale, ensuring the highest quality possible.

Pods Taproom originally opened in early 2022 for limited hours while Pods continues to expand and finish the space. The Taproom features 25 taps, a mix of house brews, as well as local guest breweries, ciders, and kombucha. Click on the link below to see what is on tap today!

Stop by our taproom for a pint, a game of pool or

skee-ball, food, live music, and more!

Cheers, from the Pods family!

Burdell

German Blonde Ale

One malt, one hop with the best ingredients imported from Germany.  This traditional and foundational recipe is Americanized and west-coast-ized through the use of the Californian US-05 yeast, which gives a clean, bright, and smooth flavor that is refreshing on any kind of day.

Our Signature

Marin Coastal
IPA

English / West Coast Style IPA

I call this a "traditional IPA" in the sense it tastes like an IPA from before the beginning of the craft beer craze a few decades ago. It is malty with a piney, bitter backbone. Smooth to drink, but with a sharp hoppy finish, that is almost delayed, this beer asks to be drank and can please malt and hop lovers alike.

HOPS: Simcoe, Columbus, Cascade

MALTS: Simpson's Maris Otter Malt, Crystal Malt

Citra Soak
Double IPA

West Coast Imperial IPA

Don't let the name fool you, this beer is all about the hops, not the fruit. While it certainly boasts heavy hop aroma and flavor, its bitterness is balanced with a good dose of darker and sweeter malts. Well-balanced and crisp, this strong IPA is easy to enjoy and always refreshing.

HOPS: Amarillo, Citra

MALTS: 2-Row, Dark Munich, Honey Malt, White Wheat

Sun Ray IPA

West Coast IPA

With a grain bill including flaked oats, white wheat, and honey malt, you would think this was a juicy NE IPA, but it isn't.  Along the same theme, fruit-forward late-addition hops, and an estery yeast makes this IPA extremely bright and refreshing.  Fermented cool to a low final gravity and naturally cold-crashed, this beer finishes crystal clear and incredibly crisp. A delicious midpoint in the west-coast / east-coast IPA dichotomy.

HOPS: Mosaic, Galaxy

MALTS: 2-row, White Wheat, Honey Malt, Oats

Pods Porter

American Porter

Fermented cool and slow with a long rest gives this beer a smooth and clean taste with a surprisingly light feel and finish.  Easy to drink a few without feeling too full, this beer can be enjoyed all year in any weather.

HOPS: German Tettenang

MALTS: Maris Otter, Chocolate Malt, White Wheat
